How to Marinate a Dorado Fish

Hi guys...my story today is about how to marinate a dorado fish. Basically, dorado fish is similar to mujair or nila's fish in Indonesia from its size, taste and meat. Its taste is really tasty when it is grilled into a oven or roasted it on the charcoal. A dorado fish is classified as the freshwater fish which it must be in freshwater, such as: rivers and lakes (with the salinity less than 1.05%).

I got this fish when I went to a traditional market in the Hague (it is callled "Haagse Markt). Its price was around 7.50 euro ( around Rp. 127.000). This market looks like Indonesian Traditional Market where sells all different stuffs, like: clothes, fruits, vegetables, food & drinks, snacks & cakes, flowers, etc. When I was there, I felt like in my village in Indonesia to be at the market (Pasar).

I was so happy that moment to find this market which can sell the whole of various stuffs, and the price of each stuff is not really expensive. We can buy one big basket or bowl of tomatoes or fruits just for 1 euro (around Rp. 17.000), and everything that is put on the basket or bowl is valued 1-5 euros per basket. As a student here, I am able to save up my money, so I am not out of money quickly.

I like so much eating fish, because I used to catch fish in the river or swamp using net and fishing equipment with my father and friends. My mother always marinate a fish with the simple spices, such as: lemon (jeruk puruk'), black pepper, turmeric (kunyit), salt and little bit of MSG (Vetsin Ajinamoto). I used my mother's recipe to marinate a dorado fish that I bought it, so I could remember my mother's food when she was cooking some food for us at home.

I marinated the fish with all spices that I bought at the traditional market, so I could grill it into oven perfectly. We ate the fish with all my housemates, and a bottle of white wijn from my best friends is really suitable for eating the fish at the moment.

This video that I created has a purpose to show or sharing the simple way how to marinate the different fishes with the homely spices. Its spices in Indonesia are really easy to find around us, like in the market, garden or back yard.

Hopefully, all of you can enjoy this video and Good Luck to try it!!!
