Berdasar makna klinis halusinasi, sebagai gangguan persepsi yang menciptakan realitas semu, memperkenalkan (i) halusinasi data, dan (ii) halunistik kebencian. Kedua konsep merujuk praktik penyebaran informasi palsu, data fiktif, dan narasi kebencian yang dimanipulasi untuk tujuan politik.

Politisi Halunistik meyakinkan pengikutnya, terutama yang berpendidikan rendah, sesama oposisi, atau "barisan sakit hati," agar menerima halusinasi mereka sebagai kebenaran mutlak.
